					Hostilian survived the death of his father, Trajan Decius, and brother, Herennius Etruscus, on the battlefield and stayed nominally the co-emperor of Trebonianus Gallus, dying only some months later in the plague epidemic - the first emperor after Septimius Severus (211 AD) to die of natural causes.
